Opposition warns of poor living conditions for Dominican seniors
Santo Domingo.- Yamel García, head of the Secretariat for Older Adults and the Elderly of the opposition party People’s Force, said more than one million older adults in the Dominican Republic are living in vulnerable conditions, citing figures from the National Statistics Office.
Speaking after a party event to swear in new members, García criticized the government, arguing that senior citizens have been neglected and that greater attention should be given to their needs.
He said many older adults face vulnerable living conditions, lacking the resources to cope with challenges such as economic crises and natural disasters, particularly those residing in high-risk communities.
