Passengers raise concerns over poor airline signage at Las Américas Airport

Santo Domingo.- Passengers at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) are raising concerns about the poor visibility of airline signs, saying the lack of clear identification makes it difficult to locate check-in counters.

Travelers, particularly first-time visitors, are often forced to walk around the terminal or ask airport employees and security personnel for directions to their airline’s check-in area. The problem becomes more noticeable during peak travel periods, when passenger traffic increases.

Passengers say airline signs should be larger, strategically positioned and visible from the main entrances to the check-in area. They also believe clearer signage would be especially helpful for foreign travelers, older passengers and those who do not speak Spanish.

According to reports, many airlines currently lack sufficiently visible signs identifying their counters, creating confusion and unnecessary movement within the terminal.

Travelers argue that improving wayfinding should be part of the airport’s modernization efforts, alongside infrastructure upgrades, as clear signage would save time, reduce confusion and improve the overall passenger experience.
