Police kill suspected criminal; that makes 45 since September

Santiago. A man died after being wounded during an alleged confrontation with agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DICRIM) in the Cienfuegos sector of the Santiago Oeste municipal district. This brings the death toll to 45 since September.

The National Police reported that the alleged antisocial Eudy Antonio Infante de León (“Nifi” or “Ñifi”), 25 years old, had confronted the agents with a revolver that he was carrying without documentation, and it was seized from him at the scene.

According to preliminary information, the police repelled Infante de León’s attack, resulting in his injury. He was later taken to a health center, where he died.

Infante de León had six police records for cases related to assaults and attempted homicide, in addition to three court records and two travel bans linked to processes for aggravated robbery and criminal association.

He added that the deceased had already been brought to justice and served his sentence.

In addition, the Police said that the alleged offender was wanted by arrest warrant 2026-AJ0079682, dated September 14, 2026, for alleged threats against a citizen who is an eyewitness to a case.

According to the investigations, “Ñifi” was allegedly contacted by other people linked to a homicide case with the aim of taking the life of the aforementioned witness.

He was also implicated in investigations related to the assault of a citizen in Cienfuegos in 2020; the robbery of “Raymond Yaroa” in 2022; and a robbery in which Francisco Carlos Heke Toribio died in the Inco II sector in January 2023. The body was sent to the INACIF for legal purposes.
