President Abinader celebrates 59th birthday with private Mass at National Palace
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader marked his 59th birthday on Sunday with a private Mass at the San Rafael Chapel in the National Palace, joined by family members, senior government officials, and close associates.
During the ceremony, Abinader thanked God for his health and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working for the Dominican Republic’s development, peace, and tolerance. He said he chose to hold the service at the National Palace to unite those serving the country as they face national challenges.
The president reflected on his family’s modest approach to birthdays, recalling that celebrations were never a major tradition. He also shared that daily morning and evening prayers help guide his decisions and keep him focused on the responsibilities of governing.
Among those in attendance were Vice President Raquel Peña, former President Hipólito Mejía, former Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch, Senate President Ricardo de los Santos, First Lady Raquel Arbaje, and other relatives and officials.
The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Tomás Morel, who offered prayers for the president’s health and leadership and encouraged him to persevere in serving the nation despite the challenges ahead.
