Dengue fever cases have continued to rise in recent weeks, with a sustained increase, according to the Public Health epidemiological bulletin. Data collected by the sentinel surveillance system indicates that the country reported approximately 16 confirmed cases of the disease in the last week.
From the beginning of the year through week 36 of the epidemiological calendar, a total of 338 cases and one death have been recorded. According to the report, the total number of confirmed cases exceeds that recorded during the same period in 2015.
However, despite the increase, authorities assure that “until epidemiological week (EW) 36 of 2026, dengue maintains a behavior within the expected levels according to the endemic corridor.”
The Ministry of Public Health attributes the confirmation of the cases to “the expected seasonal variation for the period,” while assuring that they maintain monitoring and epidemiological surveillance.
On the other hand, no positive cases of leptospirosis were reported , while the cumulative total is 275 confirmed cases up to the last week.
Malaria also did not confirm any new cases this week, and the total remains at 137 cases.
