Public Health warns of scammers posing as inspectors in Santiago

Santiago, DR.- The Santiago I Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) has warned business owners about individuals posing as Public Health inspectors to demand money during fake inspections.

Provincial Health Director Dr. Víctor Tomás Méndez Gómez said no employee or representative of the institution is authorized to collect payments directly from businesses for inspections or any other services.

According to the agency, the scammers visit commercial establishments while impersonating health inspectors and request cash payments from owners or managers.

Authorities urged merchants not to hand over money and to report any suspected fraud. Complaints can be filed in person at DPS Santiago I offices or by calling 809-576-6000 during business hours.
