Banreservas: Punta Bergantín tourism project will be the “New North”

The CEO of Banco de Reservas, Leonardo Aguilera, has described Punta Bergantín as the “New North”, an initiative designed to recover the position that Puerto Plata once held as one of the country’s main tourist destinations.

Therefore, he attributed the support of businessmen from Santiago for the development of that project to the real estate component, since the tourism component is already advanced.

He cited as an example the participation of the businessman from Santiago, Pantaleón Salcedo, who has a project comprising 180 apartments, 120 of which have already been sold.

He also reported that 263 plots of land have been sold in Punta Bergantín and that, following a recent meeting with businessmen from Santiago, sales of more than 40 million dollars were finalized.

He indicated that the start of hotel construction is crucial for the development of its hotel and real estate offerings.

“The groundbreaking ceremony for the second hotel, also a foreign investment, is scheduled for early December of this year, while the start of construction on another internationally owned hotel with 500 rooms is planned for March 2027,” he explained.

The president of Banreservas reiterated that the entity serves as the “spearhead” of the project, in conjunction with the private sector, under a public-private partnership model aimed at boosting tourism and economic development on the North Coast.
