Puerto Plata, world epicenter of cruises with the Pamac Cruise Summit

Puerto Plata has been selected as the venue for the Pamac Cruise Summit 2026, one of the most important gatherings in the global cruise industry, organized by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association ( FCCA ).

The event will take place from June 22 to 26, 2026, and will bring together executives from major cruise lines, representatives of tourist destinations, investors, and strategic players in the sector.

The Pamac Cruise Summit, considered the premier conference for FCCA Platinum members, has, for over a decade, established itself as a platform for exchange and for strengthening relationships between the cruise industry and destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

In May, the two ports of Puerto Plata received 86% of all cruise passengers arriving in the country. Amber Cove accounted for 49% with 8,802 passengers, and Taíno Bay for 37% with 51,233.

In that regard, the regional director of Tourism, Carlos Atahualpa Paulino, pointed out that the selection of Puerto Plata represents an important recognition for the province and for the Dominican Republic, as it will place the destination at the center of attention of the international cruise industry.

He also highlighted that the event’s realization is the result of efforts led by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the agreement signed between the Dominican government, headed by President Luis Abinader, and the FCCA.

Authorities estimate that the summit will generate a significant economic impact in Puerto Plata, boosting hotel occupancy and revitalizing sectors such as transportation, gastronomy, commerce, and tourism services.

Furthermore, they believe that the meeting will help strengthen the destination’s international promotion, attract new investment, and consolidate Puerto Plata and the Dominican Republic as benchmarks for tourism and the cruise industry in the Caribbean.
