Puerto Rico evaluates 700 MW power cable project linking to the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- Caribbean Transmission Development Co. (CTDC) has formally submitted a proposal to the government of Puerto Rico to develop the Hostos Project, a submarine cable initiative that would connect Puerto Rico’s power grid with the Dominican Republic.

This project is a no-brainer. It is a win-win situation for both locations. The RD gets extra monies to improve its electrical distribution system. PR receives backup power for its subdued power infrastructure. The Hostos Project is a US$ 2.5 billion privately funded strategy.
