Punta Cana to welcome LatinoSan 2026 for first Caribbean edition

Punta Cana.- The Dominican Republic will host the VII Latin American Sanitation Conference (LatinoSan 2026) from June 2 to 4 in Punta Cana, becoming the first Caribbean nation to stage the region’s leading forum on water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Held every three years since 2007, LatinoSan brings together ministers, government officials, academics, international organizations, and civil society representatives to discuss innovative solutions for expanding access to safe water and sanitation across Latin America and the Caribbean. Organizers say the 2026 edition is expected to generate new political commitments, regulatory reforms, and investment plans aimed at guaranteeing universal and equitable access to sanitation services.

Under the theme “Innovation, Inclusion and Resilience: Sanitation that Drives Health, Equity and Sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean,” the conference will address urban and rural sanitation, governance and financing, climate resilience, and the relationship between sanitation, tourism, biodiversity, and the blue economy. The event will be held at the Convention Center of the Barceló Bávaro Palace and is organized by the Ministry of Public Health of the Dominican Republic and the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage, with support from the Inter-American Development Bank. Confirmed participants include Health Minister Víctor Atallah and INAPA Executive Director Wellington Arnaud.
