Puntacana Resort officially opens 2026 Corales Puntacana Championship featuring 144 players
Punta Cana.- Puntacana Resort has officially launched the 2026 Corales Puntacana Championship, introducing the biggest edition in the PGA TOUR event’s history with a record US$4 million purse and its largest international field to date.
For the first time, the tournament will be held in July, following changes to the PGA TOUR calendar that allow players from the DP World Tour to compete. The 2026 championship will feature 144 professional golfers from about 20 countries, marking the highest participation since the tournament debuted.
Tournament Director Manuel Sajour said the Corales Puntacana Championship has evolved into more than a golf tournament, becoming a global platform that promotes the Dominican Republic as a premier sports tourism destination while contributing to the country’s economic and sustainable development.
PGA TOUR Vice President of Events Kelly Jensen said the championship continues to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s international profile as a world-class golf destination and expressed confidence in another successful edition.
The field includes former Corales champions Brice Garnett, Joel Dahmen, Chad Ramey, and defending champion Garrick Higgo, along with PGA TOUR standouts such as Brandt Snedeker, Nick Dunlap, Bill Haas, Luke Clanton, Stephan Jaeger, Camilo Villegas, and Taylor Pendrith.
The Dominican Republic will be represented by professionals Doménico Geminiani, Anthony García, and Willy Pumarol, who qualified through the Tour Canita circuit.
Beyond the competition, spectators can enjoy live music, family entertainment, sponsor activations, food experiences, and oceanfront hospitality areas. A portion of the tournament’s proceeds will support environmental conservation, coral restoration, education, healthcare, and social programs through the Grupo Puntacana Foundation.
The Corales Puntacana Championship will take place July 16–19 at the Corales Golf Course in Puntacana Resort and will be broadcast live on Golf Channel, with local coverage provided by CDN Deportes, Diario Libre, and Ritmo Social.
