Regular gasoline and diesel to cost RD$3 more this week in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government will allocate RD$1.312 billion in fuel subsidies this week to cushion the impact of rising international oil prices, according to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM).

For the week of August 22–28, regular gasoline and regular diesel will each increase by RD$3 per gallon, while premium gasoline, premium diesel, LPG and natural gas will maintain their prices.

The government said the subsidy covers up to RD$101.48 per gallon, and that total fuel subsidies allocated so far this year have surpassed RD$27 billion.

Fuel prices August 22–28

  • Premium gasoline: RD$341.10 per gallon — unchanged
  • Regular gasoline: RD$310.50 — up RD$3.00
  • Regular diesel: RD$262.80 — up RD$3.00
  • Premium diesel: RD$293.10 — unchanged
  • Avtur: RD$297.49 — up RD$11.03
  • Kerosene: RD$336.70 — up RD$12.10
  • Fuel Oil #6: RD$165.96 — up RD$6.90
  • Fuel Oil 1%S: RD$193.99 — up RD$3.96
  • LPG: RD$135.20 per gallon — unchanged
  • Natural gas: RD$43.97 per cubic meter — unchanged

The MICM attributed the pressure on fuel prices to renewed tensions between the United States and Iran, which have affected crude oil and refined petroleum products, particularly gasoline and diesel.

The ministry noted that WTI crude has reached its highest levels in the past month amid Washington’s announcement of stricter economic sanctions against Iran and stalled negotiations related to the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite the adjustments, authorities said fuel prices remain within the limits established under the government’s Anti-Crisis Plan, including the 90-day price freeze announced June 13.
