Renowned Dominican architect Cuqui Batista dies at 100

Santo Domingo.- Prominent Dominican architect Francisco Manuel “Cuqui” Batista Bisonó has died at the age of 100, the Ministry of Culture announced, praising his lasting contributions to the country’s architectural heritage.

Batista was regarded as one of the Dominican Republic’s most influential architects, designing iconic landmarks such as the Palace of Fine Arts and contributing to major projects including the Livestock City Stadium, the former Supreme Court of Justice, and the headquarters of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC).

Throughout his distinguished career, Batista received numerous honors, including being named “Living Heritage of Dominican Architecture” in 2006. Authorities said his legacy will endure through the landmark buildings that helped shape the nation’s architectural and cultural identity.
