Saturday with temperatures up to 36 degrees; scattered showers are expected

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that, due to the influence of an anticyclonic system and the incursion of Saharan dust, heat will continue to be generated across the national territory.

This is because they limit cloud formations, resulting in stable weather conditions prevailing across almost the entire country.

However, the institution noted that during the early hours of the day, passing rain will occur in the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, Samaná, and El Seibo, as well as in surrounding areas, due to the impact of the wind.

In the afternoon until the early evening, there will be some cloudiness with scattered to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially in towns in the provinces of Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, and Elías Piña , due to daytime heating and local orography.

At night, short-term rainfall will be more frequent in areas near the Caribbean coast.

Local forecasts

Because temperatures will remain “quite hot,” Indomet recommends drinking plenty of water, wearing light-colored, lightweight clothing, staying in cool places, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure without proper protection between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

“Children, the elderly, and pregnant women are the most sensitive to heat,” the institution pointed out.

Minimum temperatures will be between 23°C and 25°C, and maximum temperatures between 33°C and 35°C.
