‘Savor Paradise Sánchez’ festival to spotlight Samaná’s famous shrimp

Samaná.- The Ministry of Tourism will host the “Savor Paradise Sánchez” gastronomic festival on August 8-9, showcasing Sánchez shrimp as part of efforts to position Samaná as a leading culinary tourism destination in the Dominican Republic.

The event will take place at the Historic Railway Ruins in the former port of Sánchez, highlighting the region’s signature shrimp, known for its distinctive flavor thanks to the unique ecosystem where the Yuna River meets Samaná Bay.

Visitors will enjoy shrimp tastings, local specialties prepared by restaurants, traditional cooks and entrepreneurs, as well as a culinary competition to crown the best shrimp-based dish, showcasing the creativity of local chefs.

Beyond the food, the festival will feature live music, folkloric performances and family-friendly activities celebrating the culture and history of Sánchez.

The event is part of the Ministry of Tourism’s “Taste Paradise” initiative, which promotes Dominican gastronomy as a key driver of tourism while highlighting the traditions and heritage of communities across the country.
