Summer arrives with high temperatures and rain: Indomet explains what will happen today
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that the passage of a tropical wave will generate downpours, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind during the afternoon of this Sunday in various locations across the country.
The agency explained that during the morning hours, a grayish, opaque sky will predominate due to Saharan dust particles.
In the afternoon, the passage of the tropical wave will favor the occurrence of downpours with thunderstorms and gusts of wind over Greater Santo Domingo and the provinces of La Altagracia, El Seibo, La Romana, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, and Sánchez Ramírez, among other nearby areas.
The agency also noted that June 21 officially marks the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, the day with the longest day and shortest night of the year.
The institution noted that temperatures will remain quite high across much of the country due to the time of year and the impact of Saharan dust, urging the public to stay well hydrated, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, and avoid prolonged sun exposure, especially between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
