Three people injured during Ramón Orlando’s 50th Anniversary concert

Santo Domingo.- At least three people were injured Wednesday night during the “50 Years of Ramón Orlando and Friends” concert at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium after a confetti machine exploded in the area where members of the press were covering the event.

One of those injured, whose identity has not been released, was wearing a shirt from the Reconocidos website and was transported by ambulance to the UCE Medical Center for medical attention. Photographer Víctor Ramírez of Listín Diario was also injured but was able to leave the venue on his own.

A third member of the press was reportedly affected, although no information has been released about their condition. The incident caused tense moments among journalists and photographers covering the concert.

Authorities and event organizers have not yet provided details about the cause of the explosion or issued a final report on the number and condition of those injured.

The concert began around 8:00 p.m. and celebrated Ramón Orlando’s 50-year artistic career, bringing together prominent Dominican artists including Juan Luis Guerra, Sergio Vargas, Fernando Villalona, and Eddy Herrera, among other performers.

The event was sold out and was presented as a major celebration of Orlando’s career and Dominican merengue. Organizers had previously announced that emergency and security personnel would be present throughout the event.
