Tourism Ministry begins major redevelopment of Monte Río Beach in Azua
Azua.- Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the construction of new service infrastructure at Monte Río Beach in Azua, a project backed by an investment of RD$265 million aimed at enhancing the destination’s tourism potential and improving visitor amenities.
The intervention will cover approximately 46,200 square meters and includes road rehabilitation, paved streets, parking areas, sidewalks, retaining walls, and embankment works. The project also features the construction of a restaurant, public restrooms and showers, security booths, a playground, an outdoor gym, and a scenic viewpoint.
In addition, the initiative includes upgrades to water, sanitation, drainage, and electrical systems, along with comprehensive lighting improvements. A landscaping and environmental restoration plan will also be implemented, complemented by the installation of wooden walkways, signage, waste disposal stations, and urban furniture. Collado described the project as a long-awaited development that will help transform Azua into a stronger tourism destination and drive economic growth in the southern region of the country.
