Tourism Ministry promotes Jarabacoa as a leading adventure destination
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), in partnership with the Jarabacoa Tourism Cluster, hosted a familiarization trip for journalists and travel agents to showcase the municipality’s growing appeal as a leading ecotourism and adventure destination.
During the visit, participants explored Jarabacoa’s nature-based attractions, accommodations, gastronomy, and outdoor experiences. Highlights included a tour of Café Monte Alto, where visitors learned about the coffee production process from cultivation to roasting, as well as visits to hotels and resorts such as Jarabacoa River Club & Resort, Hotel Gran Jimenoa, and Pinar Dorado.
The itinerary also featured local culinary experiences, showcasing the destination’s diverse gastronomy and popular establishments, including Corazón de Jesús Restaurant, Barra Payán, and the well-known Ivon Ice Cream.
As part of the promotional effort, MITUR and the Jarabacoa Tourism Cluster organized a business networking event at the Fernando Arturo de Meriño Agroforestry University (UAFAM), bringing together tourism clusters from La Vega and Constanza, along with tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, entrepreneurs, and service providers.
The initiative forms part of MITUR’s nationwide strategy to promote emerging tourism destinations and diversify the Dominican Republic’s tourism offerings.
