Traffic accident Melissa Núñez: What is Miss Universe’s condition?
The Dominican candidate for Miss Universe 2026, Melissa Núñez, is in stable condition at a health center after suffering injuries, along with the national director of the pageant, Magali Febles, in a traffic accident that occurred on Friday night on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue, in the El Millón sector of the National District.
Febles’ office said in a statement this Saturday that the other people on board the vehicle are also in stable condition, although it did not specify the injuries suffered by those traveling in the car.
Núñez, 28, was scheduled to travel to Puerto Rico tomorrow, Sunday, to join the Miss Universe 2026 competition. However, her arrival will depend on her progress and health condition, the statement said.
The Dominican representative is a psychology graduate and an international model.
The Dominican Republic has one Miss Universe title, won by Amelia Vega in Panama in 2003.
Puerto Rico will host the 75th edition of the beauty pageant, which will generate more than 1,100 temporary jobs, both direct and indirect, the island’s governor, Jennifer González, assured last year.
