Turio launches specialized tourism academy in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Turio, a new specialized academy focused on tourism education, was launched Wednesday with the goal of training and professionalizing talent for the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry.

The academy aims to expand tourism education beyond traditional hotel training by covering the diverse areas, specialties and activities that make up the country’s tourism sector.

Turio will offer practical and updated training programs designed to meet the needs of companies, professionals and entrepreneurs working in the industry.

The launch took place at the JW Marriott Santo Domingo and brought together Turio directors Yahir Asjana, José Cedeño and Sarah María, along with tourism industry representatives, educators, associations, professionals and students.

The event included an institutional presentation, a panel on the future of tourism training, and a networking session connecting industry professionals, companies, educational institutions and potential partners.

“Dominican tourism training adds a new proposal with the launch of Turio, a specialized academy that seeks to bring professional training closer to the new needs of an increasingly diverse, technological and specialized industry,” Asjana said.

Turio’s training programs

Turio’s academic offerings will cover areas including tourism management, operations and hospitality, commercial management and distribution, technology, innovation and sustainability.

The academy will also develop programs focused on different tourism segments and specialized areas, with the aim of providing more flexible, practical and industry-focused training.

Through its programs, Turio seeks to help develop tourism professionals whose skills are aligned with the evolving needs of the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry.
