U.S. Embassy: Americans in the Dominican Republic can obtain emergency passports

Santo Domingo.- The United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic announced that U.S. citizens residing in or visiting the Dominican Republic can obtain an emergency passport if their document has been lost, stolen, damaged, or expired.

According to the embassy, applicants must schedule an appointment through its website and provide any available identification or proof of U.S. citizenship, along with evidence of travel within the next two weeks. The service is intended for urgent situations involving imminent international travel.

The embassy also reminded citizens that it offers 24/7 emergency assistance for serious situations, including the death, arrest, hospitalization, or disappearance of a U.S. citizen. These emergencies can be reported by calling 809-567-7775. Officials emphasized that the hotline is reserved exclusively for emergencies and should not be used for routine passport or visa inquiries.
