U.S. Embassy celebrates 250th anniversary of American independence in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.- The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo commemorated the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence with a reception hosted by Ambassador Leah Francis Campos that brought together nearly 1,000 guests, including Dominican President Luis Abinader, government officials, diplomats, business leaders and civil society representatives.
Held under the theme “Freedom 250,” the celebration highlighted the shared values of freedom, patriotism and faith between the United States and the Dominican Republic. Ambassador Campos emphasized that the anniversary commemorates the adoption of the U.S. Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, while reaffirming the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The event featured historical displays, American-inspired cuisine, live performances by jazz musicians and Dominican group Grupo Bonye, as well as a fireworks display in the colors of the U.S. flag, underscoring the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
