U.S. Embassy promotes tech and semiconductor collaboration with Dominican leaders

Santo Domingo.- U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Leah F. Campos hosted alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and representatives from the public, academic and private sectors at her residence Thursday to promote collaboration in technology, innovation and semiconductors.

The reception brought together participants from two IVLP On Demand cohorts who traveled to the United States in 2016 and took part in programs focused on strengthening the Dominican Republic’s technology and innovation ecosystem.

One group explored U.S. advances in reliable technologies and innovation, while the other visited semiconductor research, development and innovation centers to learn about industry best practices.

Participants shared experiences, expanded professional networks and discussed potential partnerships among government institutions, universities and the private sector.

The U.S. Embassy said the event forms part of its efforts to strengthen networks created through professional exchange programs and connect leaders working in technology, research, innovation and economic development.

The embassy said it will continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the United States and the Dominican Republic, particularly in strategic areas such as technology, semiconductors, innovation and emerging technologies.

The IVLP is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Established in 1940, it connects international leaders with U.S. counterparts and provides opportunities to learn firsthand about American society, institutions and professional practices.
