Veterans’ Brotherhood president meets with Dominicans in New York

New York.- The Brotherhood of Retired Veterans of the Armed Forces and the National Police conducted an institutional mission to Rhode Island and Massachusetts from October 11 to 14, meeting with government officials, community organizations and institutions that support veterans.

The delegation was led by retired Major General Valerio García Reyes, president of the Brotherhood, along with his wife, Dr. Adaía Rosario, and Dr. Luis Díaz Martínez, a Vietnam veteran and president of the Griffin Foundation.

The four-day visit included 17 activities and resulted in seven recognitions from state and municipal authorities, including Rhode Island Senator Ana Quezada, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, the mayor of Providence and members of the City Council.

The delegation also visited the Providence VA Medical Center and Rhode Island Community Food Bank and held meetings with law enforcement officials and community organizations.

In Lawrence, Massachusetts, the group met with Dr. José Báez and toured Primary Quality Health Care to learn about its primary care model and explore potential cooperation in healthcare.

One of the key meetings was held at Home Base in Boston, where Chief Operating Officer Michael D. Allard presented programs focused on mental health, rehabilitation and comprehensive support for veterans.

The Brotherhood invited Home Base representatives to visit the Dominican Republic and proposed exploring a memorandum of understanding to develop support initiatives for Dominican and U.S. veterans living in the country.

According to the Brotherhood, the meetings also identified potential areas of cooperation in healthcare, food security, community programs and technology. Any agreements resulting from the discussions would be formalized at a later stage.
