Young man killed during alleged shootout in Tábara Arriba, Azua
Azua — A young man died Friday afternoon after an alleged shootout with members of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation ( Dicrim ) during an operation in the municipality of Tábara Arriba in Azua.
According to preliminary information, the deceased was identified as Junior Alexander Peña, 31 years old, who was wanted on five arrest warrants.
Police authorities indicated that the incident occurred on the main street of the La Palmita sector in the aforementioned municipality.
In that order, the subject, upon noticing the presence of the Dicrim agents, pulled out a firearm and fired several shots, and later barricaded himself in a zinc-roofed house, where the agents repelled the attack, seriously wounding the man, according to the INACIF certificate.
During the operation, two weapons were seized: a Browning brand pistol and another black one, brand illegible, along with a series of 9mm caliber shell casings.
