Yadier Molina reveals crashed jet in La Romana was en route to pick him up in Texas
Former Major League Baseball star Yadier Molina has confirmed that the private jet involved in Sunday’s fatal crash at La Romana International Airport was scheduled to travel to Texas to pick up him, his family, and friends before returning to Puerto Rico.
Molina shared the information through a post on his Instagram account, where he expressed his sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the families of the two pilots who lost their lives in the accident.
“My condolences to the pilots and their families. This plane was on its way to pick me, my family, and friends up in Texas to bring us back to Puerto Rico. Very sad about everything,” Molina wrote.
The aircraft involved was a Gulfstream G200 private jet, registration N318JF, which crashed Sunday afternoon at the facilities of La Romana International Airport. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the aircraft’s itinerary or released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident. Investigations remain ongoing.
The tragedy has generated widespread shock within the aviation community and prompted an outpouring of condolences on social media.
Molina, a legendary former catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and former manager of the Águilas Cibaeñas during the 2024-2025 LIDOM season, said the pilots and aircraft were en route to pick up his family when the accident occurred.
The former player expressed solidarity with the families and loved ones affected by the crash, which has resonated strongly both in the Dominican Republic and among baseball fans across the region.
