Argentina assists more than 100 citizens affected by fire at Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach

Buenos Aires.- Argentina is assisting more than 100 of its citizens affected by the recent fire at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach resort in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, according to a statement from the country’s Foreign Ministry. Consular officials are working with Dominican authorities to help travelers who lost personal belongings and identification documents during the incident, including issuing emergency travel documents when necessary.

The fire, which broke out Friday and has since been extinguished, spread rapidly through parts of the resort due to the thatched roofs covering several common areas. At the time of the blaze, the hotel was hosting approximately 1,690 guests. Authorities confirmed that one guest, Italian national Francesca Valentino, died from smoke inhalation.

Argentine authorities thanked the Dominican government for its swift response and ongoing cooperation in assisting affected tourists. Meanwhile, guests evacuated from the resort have been relocated to alternative accommodations, including the neighboring Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace and other hotels in Bayahibe and Miches, as recovery efforts continue.
