Businessman in lawyer’s murder off to jail to await trail

Santo Domingo.- A Santo Domingo Oeste judge dropped the murder charge against businessman Eddy Santana Zorrila, but ordered a one-month of pretrial detention on the indictments for graft at the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA).

Judge Leonarda Quezada ruled that there isn’t enough evidence to link Santana to the murder of lawyer and university professor, Yuniol Ramírez.

After the hearing, Ramirez’s brother Ramon, said the proceeding is “vitiated” and that they’ll submit all the evidence in due time.

Former OMSA director Manuel Rivas is also being held in connection to Ramirez’s murder.
