Dominican honey exports straight to Europe starting 2016

Santo Domingo.- TheDominican Republic will export honey to the European market starting 2016 withoutintermediaries, an activity in which more 3,454 local beekeepers depend on.

Agriculture ministerAngel Estevez made the announcement Tuesday, and noted that until now theDominican Republic exported the honey through Puerto Rico.

In a statement by theAgriculture Ministry, Estevez said the European Union´s (EU) authorization allowsdirect honey exports because it meets the economic bloc´s sanitary requirements.
