Hotels, bars, restaurants sector grows by 9.2%
Santo Domingo.- The Central Bank, committed to keeping economic agents and the public well-informed and upholding transparency, has released preliminary economic activity results for May 2024.
The hotels, bars, and restaurants sector exhibited a cumulative year-on-year growth of 9.2% from January to May 2024. This significant growth was primarily driven by the arrival of 3,716,262 tourists by air and 1,284,635 excursionists, totaling 5,000,897 visitors in the first five months of the year.
Additionally, the consolidated credit portfolio for the sector increased by 27.6% compared to May 2023.
