Santo Domingo.- This week, Víctor Pichardo, Executive Director of the Airport Department (DA), conducted a thorough inspection of ongoing remodeling efforts at Las Américas International Airport (AILA), highlighting Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI’s (Aerodom) commitment to enhancing Dominican infrastructure. Joined by DA technicians, Pichardo meticulously surveyed renovated areas, including the front section, accompanied by Aerodom CEO Mònika Infante and General Floreal Suarez from CESAC.

The initial $16 million phase of AILA’s renovation aims to modernize infrastructure, with future plans slated to include the construction of a new terminal by June 2025. Infante expressed appreciation for Pichardo’s involvement, highlighting the significance of governmental oversight and collaboration in advancing Aerodom’s initiatives.

Renovation efforts encompass comprehensive enhancements to arrival and departure areas, roofs, facades, lighting, information systems, and air conditioning. Furthermore, an extensive expansion of the parking facility is underway, adding 800 long-term spaces and improving traffic flow and landscaping aesthetics.
