National Meteorology Office Weather Update

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office informs that today, as Hurricane Beryl continues to approach and move over the Caribbean Sea waters south of the country, it will indirectly affect the region. Morning rains are expected to begin in provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Samaná, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Duarte, and Sánchez Ramírez. By midday, the rains will extend to Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hermanas Mirabal, and other nearby areas. These rains will take the form of moderate downpours, which can be locally heavy, with thunderstorms and strong winds that may reach tropical storm strength, especially in the Caribbean coastal provinces.

In the afternoon, the rains will persist in the aforementioned provinces, with significant rainfall expected in the Central Mountain Range and southwestern provinces such as Barahona, Pedernales, Independencia, and others.
