AES Dominicana and Nature Power Foundation launch community project in Peravia

Calabaza, Peravia.- In a landmark event for sustainable development in the municipality of Matanzas, AES Dominicana Foundation, in partnership with Nature Power Foundation, broke ground on the Sustainable Community Strengthening Project in Calabaza, Peravia Province. This innovative solar-powered initiative aims to improve the living conditions of 20 families through sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.

The project includes constructing a solar-powered aqueduct with a 100,000-gallon storage capacity, ensuring consistent and sustainable access to water for families, community gardens, and goat grazing—an essential local livelihood. Additionally, the project will upgrade goat corrals and implement irrigation systems for the gardens, enhancing food security and promoting economic self-sufficiency for beneficiaries.

Bredyg Disla, Executive Vice President of AES Dominicana Foundation, emphasized the organization’s dedication to community development and sustainability: “We firmly believe in the transformative power of partnerships. This project demonstrates that by working together, we can create real, lasting change in communities that need it the most.”

A Collaborative Celebration

The project’s inauguration was attended by the Matanzas Municipal Council, the regional INAPA office, community leaders, local authorities, and representatives from the involved organizations. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the region’s sustainable progress.

This initiative highlights how vulnerable communities can achieve self-sustainability by integrating clean technologies and community empowerment strategies, fostering holistic well-being and sustainable development.
