Lawyer dies from injuries after explosion in Sosúa

Santiago de los Caballeros.- Carmen Joselyne Lora Caminero, 37, passed away this Friday at the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS) after succumbing to severe burns sustained in an explosion at her workplace in Sosúa, Puerto Plata, on December 23. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Lora Caminero, a local lawyer, could not recover from the critical injuries caused by the blast.

The tragic incident has raised concerns in the community, and authorities are actively investigating the cause of the explosion. The Explosives Department of the National Police is leading the inquiry into the explosion, which occurred at a law office in the El Batey sector.

In addition to Lora Caminero, the explosion also injured Lisa Ewest, a German-born lawyer and Dominican citizen, who is currently receiving medical treatment for burns and other injuries. The local Civil Defense confirmed the details of the incident.
