Horse track to become sports-recreation comple; no cost cited
Santo Domingo.- Sportsminister Jaime David Fernandez on Tuesday said the V Centenario horse track willbe converted into a major sports and recreation complex, as part a long-termagreement with the National Racing Commission to manage the site.
He said although the sportsand recreation center would have horse racing as its main activity the rest ofthat space would be better utilized to benefit the horse racing community andresidents of surrounding areas.
"This is a diamond-in-the-roughwhich will increase its added value," the official said during a visit tothe racetrack, where he met with National Racing Commission president ManfredCodik and other officials, who toured the site.
Neither Codik nor Fernandezprovided any figures on the possible cost of the announced complex.
