Dominican Republic sends relief to the Bahamas

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government Mon on. sent 34.4 tons of food and medicine, as well as relief and humanitarian assistance units to Abaco Island, in the Bahamas, to assist in search and rescue debris removal, and distribution of foodstuffs to the population affected by Hurricane Dorian

Foreign minister, Miguel Vargas and Defense minister Rubén Paulino Sem, headed the dispatch of the aid.

“The humanitarian spirit that characterizes the Dominicans is evident in the face of this tragedy of great proportions,” said Vargas, who said the mission was ordered by president Danilo Medina.
