Top deputy wants slush fund money all for himself: Lawmaker

Santo Domingo.- Opposition PRD party deputy Radhames Gonzalez on Wednesday slammed Chamber of Deputies president Abel Martinez’s decision to suspend the slush fund know as “el barrilito” (little barrel), “to keep the money for himself.”

“They’ve taken away the little barrel so that he can keep the big barrel, and what he’s doing is using the deputies for self-promotion for political motives,” the lawmaker said on Pantalla Abierta, Channel 36.

He said the RD$70.0 million allocated to the Ebola Prevention Plan shouldn’t come from the little barrel, and from Club of the Legislators instead, by shutting it down.
