Firms to build $350M natural gas terminal in eastern port

Santo Domingo, (COMTEX).- InterEnergy Holding companies, proprietor of Consorcio Energético Punta Cana Macao (CEPM), yesterday announced a joint venture with the company BW Gas for the construction of a new liquid natural gas terminal in the eastern port city of San Pedro de Macorís, with investments that exceed the US$350 million, and is expected to be finished in 2014.

“The terminal will be part of an inclusive logistic solution to bring natural gas to the country and will be the first investment of BW in the Caribbean, company that believes in the future of the Dominican power market,” .

"This announcement is one of the most important developments in the country’s energy market in the last decade," said Celso Marranzini, CEO of the State-owned group of power companies (CDEEE).
