Shippers say they help agency in war on drug trafficking

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s shipping companies grouped in ANRD affirmed Sunday that their joint efforts and actions with the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) confront drug trafficking via freighters and maritime transport system.

ANRD president Teddy Heinsen said by contributing with the antinarcotics authorities in the war on drug trafficking they’ve managed to “safeguard” the “Safe Port” classification in all of the country’s harbors, which in his view has boosted foreign trade.

He said to control drug trafficking it’s fundamental that the authorities and the members of the harbor logistics chain “play” their role responsibly and with commitment.

Heinsen, quoted by new source eldia.com.do, revealed that he’ll meet with DNCD president Rolando Rosado Thursday, as part of the “commitment to put a definitive brake” on drug trafficking via the ports.
