Human Rights court seeks help for “stateless” descendants of Haitians

Santo Domingo.- In the hearing against Dominican Republic the Inter-American Human Rights Commission’s proposed a method to issue late declarations to Dominicans descendants of Haitians in the country, often called “stateless.”

The members of the court based in Costa Rica also questioned the Dominican Government representatives on the Supreme Court ruling in 2005 that declared illegal immigrants as in "transit in the country" and therefore their children couldn’t request the Dominican citizenship.

The judges’ questions form part of a meeting to evaluate the compliance of a 2005 ruling ordering the documents issued to two descendants of Haitians, Dilcia Yean and Violeta Bosico.
