Suspect arrested two days after military escort’s murder(UPDATE)

Monte Plata, Dom. Rep.- William Santana Perdomo, 24, the main suspect in the shooting death of Army 2nd Lt. Suleica Ponciano surrendered in the city of Monte Plata (east), and an alleged accomplice Angel Luis Rodriguez, whom Police charged with trying to sell the slain junior officer’s service weapon.

FILE: Santo Domingo.- The National Police arrested one of the alleged killers of Army 2nd Lt. Zuleyka Ponciano on Thursday, less than two days after the military escort of one of president Danilo Medina’s daughter was gunned down near her home.

The Police said it arrested Arturo Santiago Alcantara, who allegedly ??fatally shot the officer, and seeks another suspect, William Santana Perdomo (Willy).

Santiago was arrested October 2, 2011, charged with possession of cocaine and crack, but released on bail June 6, by a Santo Domingo panel court.

While Santana, who police says is armed and dangerous, is urged to surrender.

Ponciano was stripped of her service weapons on her way to work early yesterday at El Tamarindo, Santo Domingo East.
