High court ruling fallout, the Cardinal calls NGO’s a “horde of plagues”

Santo Domingo.- Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez again lashed out at the organizations which have rebuffed the Constitutional Court ruling on nationality, calling some ONG´s a plague dedicated to discrediting Dominican Republic.

He said the Constitutional Court is the only entity with authority in that issue, and that he agrees that regularization of foreigners should continue, “to put an end to the disorder.”

Lopez, speaking after a mass at Santo Domingo Cathedral Monday to mark Santo Domingo State University’s (UASD) 475th anniversary, said he also agrees with the Government’s international campaign on which president Danilo Medina instructed several diplomats to go abroad to explain the ruling’s scope.
