Dominican Republic judge revokes own warrant against Spanish mogul

Santo Domingo.- Inan unusual reversal, a La Altagracia province (east) judge on Thursday revoked his bench warrantfor the arrest of Spanish mogul Juan José Hidalgo, from a case opened against himin the Caribbean country in 2012, EFE reports.

1st Circuit Court judge Andres Rijo acknowledged that the subpoenahadn’t been served at Hidalgo’s home in Madrid, sources in his company GlobaliaGroup told Efe, who also affirmed that the court had scheduled a hearing for February4.

Earlier this week Hidalgo said he plans to file chargesto seek damages, calling the case against him in Dominican Republic began on July2012, persecution.

The plaintiff, Cuban-American Sandalio Suárez filed acomplaint over "a 629 square- meter piece of beach” at Cabeza de Toro, infront of the Hotel Believe Punta Cana, allegedly owned by Globalia.

Suarez alleges having paid around US$550.00 in 1988 and triedto sell it to the President of Globalia.
