Authorities probe 20 companies, seize RD$3.0B in fake drugs case against politico

Santo Domingo.- The National District Office of the prosecutor investigates 20 companies and has seized around RD$3.0 billion worth of fake drugs in the case against pro-government party (PRSC) leader José Cruz, charged with trafficking bootleg medications.

Despite being held to await trial, Cruz has received the public support from his colleagues, including PRSC general secretary Ramón Rogelio Genao.

In a letter seeking the release of the accused, Genao said he’s been Cruz’s personal friend for 15 year and called him a "responsible" person.

Among the assets seized from Cruz figure RD$160.0 million and a lot.
