Dominican Navy rescues 83 tourists on boat adrift off east coast
Santo Domingo.- A Dominican Navy patrol craft over the weekend rescued 83 tourists sailing aboard a catamaran that went adrift off the coast of Bayahibe, eastern Altagracia province.
Navy spokesman Daniel de la Rosa said in addition to the Navy the tourists were rescued with the help of a Dominican Air Force aircraft and a boat of the Dominican Naval Auxiliary.
“The ‘Marina’ Caribe catamaran went adrift on mechanical failure and was towed safely by the Navy with its passengers and crew to the port at La Romana,” the Navy said in a statement.
