President Medina to meet with Taiwan president on Monday

Santo Domingo.- Dominican president Danilo Medina will meet Mondaywith his Taiwanese counterpart Ma Ying-jeou, who will visit the country as apart of his trip to the Americas.

Medina will bestow the Duarte, Sanchez and Mella Medal ofMerit on the Taiwanese leader, for his effort to deepen commercial, politicaland cultural cooperation between Santo Domingo and Taiwan.

Priorto his visit to the National Palace, MaYing-jeou willvisit the IntegralDisabilities Care Center (CAID), followingan invitation by Dominican First Lady CandidaMontilla, who will offer details on thework that institution carries out in favor of children with special needs.

Ma Ying-jeou will also visit Haiti and Nicaragua. Accordingto Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the goal of Ma’s trip is to strengthenbilateral cooperation ties with his country’s allies in the region.
