Notorious ´cock fighter´ to stand criminal trial

Santo Domingo.- MontePlata Magistrate Court judge Ana Mercedes on Monday ordered Winston Rizik andhis brother Nelson Rizik to stand criminal trial, charged with drugtrafficking, money laundering and possession of illegal weapons seized in afarm near that eastern town.

Winston Rizik ´”el Gallero”(cock-fighter) had surrendered to authorities after he was declared a fugitive,in the heels of raids in two of his farms in Monte Plata and San Cristobal,where authorities said they sized assault rifles and eight kilos cocaine.

In that regard Anti-MoneyLaundering prosecutor Germán Miranda on Sunday ??said Riziks´ indictment issupported by "strong evidence, collected legally."

He said a criminal trialwould be an exemplary lesson for the accused, whom allegedly headed actionswhich led to bloodshed, drug trafficking and money laundering for more than tenyears. “They won’t find complicity in court this time.”
