Catholic Church blasts politicians who bribe consciences

Santo Domingo.- In its Sermon on the Seven Words marking Holy Friday, Dominican Republic’s Catholic Church lashed out against government corruption and the actions of justice.

In its message, the Santo Domingo Archdiocese criticized politicians who bribe consciences, and said we are living in a society plagued by anti-values, insecurity, homes broken by poverty and the "hunger for power" of some unscrupulous people.

"Our people expect our political leaders to behavior as the best political professionals and develop their proselytizing activities based on the programs they will run if elected," priest Angel Sanchez said in a mass that started with "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing."
