US ambassador at Dominican-Haiti border to see people’s ‘behavior’

Dajabón, Dominican Republic.- U.S. ambassador James W.Brewster on Thursday visited the border town of Dajabon (northwest), where elcaribe.com.do reported alleged mass deportations of Haitians.

In what local officials called a surprise visit, thediplomat was accompanied by Border Security Corps (Cesfront) director CarlosAguirre, and local and foreign officials.

Brewster said his country is committed to continue helpingDominican Republic in its tasks of immigration and congratulated the Cesfrontand Immigration director, Ruben Dario Paulino for his work together with the USEmbassy.

"We came to see the inflow and outflow, (and) behaviorof the people at the border," Brewster said.
